Aircraft Spins Out of Control into Palm Groves at Frequented Southern California Coast
A helicopter soaring above a well-attended coastal beach abruptly started spinning wildly, eventually losing altitude and smashing into a row of palm trees as onlookers looked on.
Footage posted online capture the chopper starting to spin near the beach then falling near the perimeter of the shore, where it ends up lodged between palm groves and a steps near the shoreline route.
Rescue Operation Information
Emergency responders said five persons were taken to hospital comprising two who were in the chopper and were “extracted safely from the crash site” after the accident on Saturday.
Three people on the street were hurt. Information on their wounds were not immediately available.
The reason for the accident was not yet disclosed.
