Rob Edwards as well as O'Neil Among Wolverhampton Wanderers Managerial Candidates

Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the initial names under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

The previous coach was dismissed on Sunday following the squad's ten-game winless beginning to the Premier League season.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - each of whom have historic links to the club - are among the names to be evaluated by the Wolves ownership.

Edwards is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a possible obstacle to his hiring at Molineux.

However the former Luton manager - who played over a century of appearances for the club during his playing career - is said to be a leading candidate for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is reportedly enjoys support from the club board as they start the process of appointing a fresh head coach.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise candidate, even though he would be a surprising choice considering he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The former West Ham United player is out of work meaning Wolves would not be required to provide any compensation.
