On Monday, Leicester Crown Court was told call records and data recovered from phones logged Ms Wandelt consistently asking Madeleine's mother for a genetic test throughout 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - at the age of three during a trip in Portugal - is one of the most publicized missing child cases and is still unresolved.

'I Do Not Need Money'

A separate recorded message, played in court, captured Ms Wandelt stating: "I understand I'm overweight and not pretty like Madeleine was, but I believe what I believe."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's answerphone said: "What if there is a slight possibility that I'm her? What then? Isn't that significant for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I have a existence here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," the recording stated.

The jury was told that through emails, SMS messages and communications, Ms Wandelt demanded a genetic test, sent youth pictures to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a childhood with the McCanns.

The investigator, an intelligence analyst with the police force who compiled the evidence, informed the court there "didn't appear to be any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also contacted family friends of the McCanns, as per the communication logs.

On October 9th, 2024, Mr McCann responded to a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "a wrong number."

During that incident Ms Wandelt deposited a recording on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I will continue and I intend to demonstrate my position."

The court was informed the co-defendant struck up a connection online with Ms Wandelt prior to joining her on a trip to the McCanns' property in that area in that winter.

Communication data revealed Mrs Spragg had communicated via communication app to Mrs McCann to say the media had characterized Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she ought to be considered genuine in the months before the visit to that location, the county, in that winter.

The court was told correspondence between the two accused, in last November, considering attempting to get Mrs McCann's genetic material from her trash or from cutlery at a restaurant.

"We have to take action," the co-defendant informed Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the trip to their house, Mrs Spragg sent a message which stated: "We are sitting near the McCanns' house with our lights out similar to private investigators. I had hoped to achieve this with someone else I didn't imagine I would be involved in this with the McCanns."

The trial proceeds.
